Fall CSA season, here we go!

We only managed to get a picture of the small box contents on Tuesday,  so sorry.  First day of csa harvesting and deliveries is a little more hectic until we get back into the swing of things.  I will get a picture of the large box on Friday.  So as you can tell we are in a transition period from summer crops to fall crops.  The summer stuff will fade out as greens come in heavily followed by the brassicas such as broccoli and cabbage.  My garden is about 80% planted and as more crops come out, I will just keep planting in that space too.  It has been an interesting few weeks of pest issues.  First was caterpillars and hundreds of them.  They were on basically every single plant at my farm, from the main garden to the small greenhouse.  I have to admit that I panicked and was concerned but some BT and spinosad, both organic approved sprays, took care of them so far.  Then the influx of wooly ahpids.  did you see them??  The millions of fuzzy white bugs flying in the air.  not ash or snow but aphids, ugh.  They have since moved on but eggs have been left behind.  Luckily, a jet spray of water can kill those guys.
All of my plants are taking root and growing strong.  I have had some difficulty getting seeds to germinate outside in the garden but as the temperatures cool down they will do better.  We are excited about the fall season and hope you are too.
Oh yeah, I picked up pork yesterday!  So now I have for the first time ever, sausage, ribs, roast and pork chops available.  I am pretty excited about this and even picking up two more piglets this weekend.  So, if interested, email or call me.   A few turkeys are available for holiday tables and as always eggs each week.  We hope to be a full service farm soon ;)
Thomas and I will keep farming as long as you want locally grown vegetables and animals raised right.  We sure love it and hope you do too.  Cheers!
